Clinical Coordinator/Supervising Psychologist

Oakes Children's Center, Inc. is a mental health agency with an on-site non-public school. The agency is dedicated to providing education and mental health services to at-risk and underserved youth. We fulfill our mission by providing individualized education, innovative and culturally-responsive therapeutic services, comprehensive assessment, and clinical training. This job is a management/supervisor position within the Counseling Enriched Education Program (CEEP; the on-site non-public school) which serves children and their families in Kindergarten thru 8th grade as well as the Clinical Training Program. Services the Psychologist provides include:

Crisis intervention, consultation, and case management.

Possibility of providing family therapy, parent counseling and coaching, individual therapy, and group therapy based on interest and experience.

Management/Supervision Responsibilities: This position has two distinct areas of responsibility.

First, to provide clinical oversight to the Counseling Enriched Education Program (CEEP) ensuring the provision of ethical, effective, and quality mental health services to clients using trauma-informed and relational psychodynamic principles. Tasks include (but are not limited to) supervision of milieu counselors, providing live observations with immediate/direct feedback to staff with the goal of improving therapeutic effectiveness during the school day, and providing administrative oversight to the clinical program within CEEP and ensuring quality and ethical documentation practices per county and MediCal guidelines.

Second, to support the Training Program by providing supervision to doctoral interns in clinical psychology and post-doctoral fellows, by leading trainings, and by supporting the Training Director in ensuring the delivery of quality training.

 

Qualifications:

  • Psy.D. or Ph.D. degree in psychology
  • Licensed as Psychologist in the state of California
  • Clinical experience with children, adolescents, and their families
  • Experience providing school-based services
  • Experience with severe and high-risk populations
  • Experience working with trauma and strong understanding of traumatized populations
  • Excellent communication and supervisory skills
  • Experience in providing supervision, psychodynamic and/or family systems preferred
  • Experience working with diverse populations
  • Commitment to community based work
  • Individuals who are ethnic minorities, are underrepresented in the field and/or have multiple language capacity are encouraged to apply
  • Expertise in Medi-Cal documentation and/or (Avatar) digital medical record systems
  • Proficient in computer applications and data collection
  • Experience in psychological assessment of children and adolescents using cognitive and projective assessments is preferred
